Is a tomorrow promised to you?

This past week, we were all taken aback by the untimely passing of a well-known former NBA player.
He and his daughter were tragically taken by an unexpected helicopter crash.
None of us ever expected this to be part of our news last Sunday. I am sure he and his daughter had NO clue that their life would end on that helicopter ride that particular day.
I was happy to hear that despite having a hectic day planned, this man and his daughter rose very early that Sunday to attend church service and received communion. With all they had to do that day, this trip could have easily been blown off as unimportant.
Were he and his daughter prepared to meet God that day? I don’t know. I am hopeful that they were ready as they rose early to attend church. If they weren’t, then that makes this event even sadder.
Now, this brings me to the question that I have been asking all week. If this event occurred in your life or the life of a loved one, do you know where your soul would spend eternity?
We go about our busy lives without pondering this. We put it off day by day, month by month, and year by year.
We think today that we will deal with this issue tomorrow. When tomorrow comes, we do the same thing of pushing off this all-important decision.
Some people chose not to deal with this issue because they don’t believe in God, the devil, heaven, or hell. Well, one day, when their life ends, they will have a rude awaking as they come face to face with God in all His glory!
Regardless of the weather, they believe in heaven or hell, their soul will spend eternity in one of those two places.
There are no recycled souls. God is an original creator and does not have to recycle souls. None of us comes back at an animal or another person. To believe in one and not the other is rather absurd.
See, the absolute truth is that there is a God that resides in heaven. He is the creator of all the world and everything in it. He has a son named Jesus, whom He sent to die for all of our sins. And when our Savior rose back to His father, the Holy Spirit took His place as our worldly comforter and place of peace.
Today is the best day to think about God and spending eternity with Him. Putting off this decision does not mean that that evitable day will also be put off.
No person is promised that tomorrow will come for them. No person on this earth knows the exact moment they will draw their last breath.
As I mentioned before, do you think that Kobe Bryant knew last Sunday morning was the very last he would spend on this earth? If he had known, I am sure that he would have decided NOT to board that helicopter.
NO person knows when this fated day will arrive for them. We try to pretend it won’t come or that it is years and years and years down the line. But no one knows when their fateful day will arrive.
So do not take for granted that tomorrow will show up and that you will be here to enjoy it.
God’s word tells us that the only way to Him is through His son Jesus. Jesus is the doorway to access God and heaven when you draw your last breath.
There is no other way but through Jesus. Today, you must choose to receive Jesus as your Savior. Now is this choice a sure-fire bet that you will end up in heaven? No, it isn’t. God has rules, and He is a God of order.
God expects us to live our lives in a certain way. Now am I saying that you have to be perfect right this second and then every second after that? No, of course not.
No own, but God and our Savior are perfect. We will never reach His perfection, but we have to strive for that perfection everyday. Will we make that mark every day? Of course not! We are only human, but that is the beauty of God. when we fall short, there is His grace, His bountiful mercy, and His never-ending forgiveness!
Now I hear you saying that what God expects of you and how you live your life are too many rules and regulations.
Well, that is just one more excuse to keep you from making this critical decision. If you keep overthinking this and making excuses, you will never take the step of faith into God. See, we have to come to a point where we want God more than anything else in this world.
When you want God more than anyone or anything else, this decision will come as natural as breathing.
When you are there, you will wonder what held you back from His so long.
Today is not the day for more excuses. It is the day of action. Today, make the decision to choose God, choose life, choose love, choose a Savior who died only for you.
