Today, we remember the events that unfolded 20 years ago, on September 11, 2001.
We remember the bravery on display as firefighters rushed in to help those in distress.
We remember watching in horror as so many individuals fell or leaped to their deaths as they faced a horrible decision to stay inside this burning building or fall to their deaths.
We watched in disbelief as so many of our citizens lost their lives that day.
We looked on in utter pain and anguish as so many people staggered out of those buildings with life-changing injuries.
We watched in horror as one at a time, one tower collapsed. Then the other collapsed from the intense heat of jet engine fuel.
We cried out to God as we wondered why this was happening.
We prayed in unison as we asked God to help all those innocent people.
Today, we remember, but perhaps the question we should ask is how can we ever forget?
This event was meant to destroy America, but it had the opposite effect.
In the days following this horrific event, our country came together in unity and love.
We came together in love for one another and for our beloved America.
How ironic that today as we reflect, there are forces at work trying to tear America and Its citizens apart again.
Today, there are those using racism and hate to divide our country and all our countrymen.
We did not let our house divide then, and we cannot let it divide now.
God’s word tells us that a house divided on itself, cannot stand (Mark 3:25)
